Hi everyone! Trust you’ve been good?! So today, I’m talking about Hyaluronic acid, many times we hear acid and immediately think “Chemical Exfoliants”, well this isn’t a chemical exfoliant. I am going to try my best to use as little science terms as possible so it is easier to understand which is why I named this post “Almost All”!
Hyaluronic acid is a good anti-aging ingredient (There’s nothing wrong with aging skin, premature aging is what we don’t want, we want to age with grace 🙂 OK!). So as we age, and as we go about our daily life, our skin loses moisture(fun fact, UV rays also hasten moisture loss so wear your sunscreen), when that happens your skin becomes less plump, hydrated and resilient which can cause you to have premature wrinkles. HA is a humectant, this means it retains moisture /prevents loss of moisture/preserves moisture and is something our body naturally produces as that is what helps your skin retain moisture.
HA draws moisture from the environment and basically multiplies that in the skin, amazing! Best way to use HA is on damp skin, after your toner or essence, right before your other serums. HA serums are great for ALL skin types, one of my all time favs is Ledew Beauty Baby smooth HA serum. After retinol, HA is another amazing anti-aging ingredient everyone needs to start using at some point. HA is now being added to many moisturizers and other serums now. Hyaluronic Acid is also commonly listed as Sodium Hyaluronate on some ingredient list.
Some Benefits of HA
- Retains Moisture
- Plumps skin
- Fights Free Radicals
- Maintain skin Elasticity thereby preventing premature wrinkles
Basically, consistent use of HA gives you softer, plumper, more hydrated and smoother skin.
If you have been considering HA products, serum, mask or cream, I hope this gives you more information. I use one every morning. Some of my other recommendations are the Inkey List HA serum (the most affordable option I know), another great option is the Paula’s Choice Hyaluronic acid booster.
